It is the era of startups, most of youths in service sector is fed up of their 9-5 desk job and wants a startup of his/her own. However only few of them reach the height of success. Whenever we think of Entrepreneur, we think of Youth living in urban setup and have an App which is going to get him/her a million dollar company. Rural entrepreneurship is still not our topic of discussion.  But Mr. Dhanaji Nade is breaking all these stereotypes.  He is the  CEO, Worker, Manager and everything of his Goat Farm named Krishi Vaibhav Goat farm. He has goat farm of one of the most popular breeds of the goat named 'Osmanabadi'. He is in the 37 th year of his life. In the age where people started about their retirement plan, this man started new inning of his life. Three years ago from now, he started his business in the small village named Kasbe Tadwade which is around 55 Km distance from the land of Tuljabhavani, Tuljapur. But it was not at all easy tasks to make a turnover of 10-12

20 Important Things that the Social Worker should have before leaving for field

It can be tough for social worker in India for surviving on field work without proper preparation. Here the preparation means that what things that you should be equipped before leaving your hostel. The first thing in our college orientation was for keeping minimum luggage   preferably  a rack sack or small hand bag.  However after being on field for several days and times, I have come across a list of things that will make less things to be carried for field work in India. So let’s begin with bedding stuff- it is most important because you have to have a good sleep and be fresh the next day for some strenuous work. I will suggest to buy a single size mat . Generally, the house would have mud floor which are quite uneven and this mat will help to even out surface. Over it spread a thick cotton  bed-sheet , which will be quite comfortable. During summer and raining season, one quilt or sheet can be enough to cover yourself. For pillow……you can fold two or three shirt into fold a

Issues faced in Indian Joint Family System

In this patriarchal world, even if the woman gets married to man still they have to take permission for doing anything like going out etc.  It is a common scenario faced by couples in joint family . It is undeniable fact that the couple wants a free space to understand each other. As arrange marriage clearly has two individuals who were strangers to each other. But why does it become a problem? I do not deny the advantages living in joint family like the children stay connected to culture, beliefs and values. In the crisis times (financial or social), everyone is together or parents can leave their children to run important errands. There are other good reasons of living in joint family. However it does have negative side like unnecessary restrictions put over the newly -weds or existing couples. The couple are strangers and it takes time to understand each other needs, likes and dislikes. Naturally it is human nature that every human being wants love and would love the fact tha

Education leading to a Sexist Society

Telangana has become the first state to make gender education   compulsory at the undergraduate level. This has started the debate on gender inequality in a highly patriarchal society. On August 15, 1947, when India got independence it was considered as freedom for all. But equality between the sexes remains a dream even 70 years after independence. Many women’s movements have fought for women to be given their rights. But most of us have grown up with a patriarchal mindset that has deeply penetrated our society for years and is difficult to eradicate. Education is considered the greatest tool for the cultivation of the human mind. Education aims to empower students to question the pre-existing social norms, cultures, and prejudices. I am in my final year of graduation in social sciences. In my 15 years of being in the Indian education system, I have seen students changing their perspective on politics, equality, equity, development, capitalism and many more things. But surprisi

Prevention of Domestic Violence by Engaging Men

The mainstream focuses on taking out policies and laws that are in favor  of women. They are suggested to take stand and taken action for them but in reality, it is really tough for them to raise their voices because the power (from permission to go out to which type vegetable will be cooked) lies with their husbands . At the same time, the behavior  of men is not hereditary but acquired from male dominated society. Hence the change at covert and overt behavior  can be brought, through continuous and constant efforts by making the patriarchal to gender equal society.    So from January 2010, Halo Medical Foundation has started a unique project called Mahila Shastitkarn (Women’s Empowerment). The model works with men (perpetrator) then it would help to curbing down the domestic violence because it helps to create awareness against violent acts on their spouses. It focuses on working with men through counselling, guiding, conducting group discussions and activities. It has been wor

Pardhi Tribe in Tuljapur (India)

“Why you have come to us ? Many people has come and gone but nobody have sympathy for us.” It was welcome note for me by them. They consider rest of the society as evil to them and for that they have valid reason also which we may not deny. From 2 to 3 Kms from Tuljapur town, there is place named Tuljapur(Khurd) and at the outermost area of Tuljapur (khurd) this Pardhi people lives. There are 40 households living over there with population of 150 people. They are living on land of government from last 20 years and asking government to register that land on their names but no body is listening to them. Talking about history, They were marked as CRMINAL TRIBE. This sin is still attached with them. But this title was given to them by britishers to justify their invasion in Pardhi’s Forest. Children of Pardhi Community at Tuljapur Livelihood: The badge of criminal tribe is making their livelihood difficult. and the people who are getting employment that also is not cert

Racism found in Rural Indian Household

Fair skin and marriage to good and handsome boy are complimentary in nature…………. The first step of arranged marriage was taking place in the village where I was doing my field work. Yes, there is nothing different about it. As I came back from the field, I had to sit outside till all the discussion took place. I guess that it did not go well because the girl did not match the beauty parameter of our society. After few days of this incident, on the occasion of  festival called Makarsankranti  (onwards the days become longer than night) I did wear sari and go to temple like every girl in the village did One statement that crossed my heart and can remember vividly was that, “ with this fair skin, you will get good husband and in-laws”. I acknowledged that I have fair skin, but never cared about it. My aim from childhood was get job about which I am passionate. If society is taking only the skin color into consideration then it is looking down on the other talent that the girl po
